Anthony Perez, sometimes known as “A Train,” is an American bodybuilder who started in sports before finding success in the sport and receiving his IFBB Pro Card in 2013. But to get there, he had to push through injury setbacks and body-image concerns.

Anthony Perez played basketball and soccer competitively during his time in high school.

But a catastrophic knee injury forced him to give up his love of sports. Anthony was upset since his aspirations of playing professional soccer were no longer feasible.

However, he eventually recovered and discovered a passion for water sports like swimming and water polo, breaking a 30-year school swimming record in the process.

Biography

Starting A Fitness Career

In 1985, Anthony Perez was born in the USA. He started playing competitive sports at a young age, including basketball and soccer, and athletics became a significant part of his life.

He was primarily concerned with soccer because it was his favorite sport. But one day, his enthusiasm for the activity abruptly ended.

His chances of becoming a soccer player were all but ended after he sustained a catastrophic knee injury that kept him out of action.

Anthony was devastated and unsure of what to do. But he eventually discovered his calling. Anthony started participating in aquatic sports once he entered high school.

This quickly became one of his major loves, and he routinely played water polo and went swimming.

Anthony learned valuable life lessons, such as discipline and hard effort, from having to wake up at 6 a.m. to participate in various water activities.

He carried these teachings with him throughout his entire life.

His Fitness Journey Continues

Anthony led a very busy lifestyle, which resulted in his burning more calories than he was consuming, which caused him to have a thin physique.

Anthony felt uneasy in his skin because he was self-conscious about how he appeared.

Anthony was working in the family business at the time, something he enjoyed doing with his father.

He did, however, desire to do more with his life. Anthony concluded that he needed to change at this time.

He started working out at Gold’s Gym, where a seasoned weightlifter took him under his wing.

Anthony learned everything he needed to know about muscle development from him, and bodybuilding soon became a major aspect of his life.

In the gym, Anthony gave it everything. He instantly started to see the results of his workouts soon enough.

Anthony soon understood that he was now in the mood for a difficult task. At this point, he decided that he wanted to compete in bodybuilding.

Getting To The Stage Of Bodybuilding

Anthony started preparing for stage competitions in 2012. Anthony attended the NPC USA Championships after undergoing training for his first contest, where he placed 12th overall in his weight division.

Although this wasn’t the outcome he had hoped for, Anthony didn’t let it discourage him from competing on the bodybuilding stage.

By 2013, Anthony has started preparing for the biggest contest of his career to date.

He competed in the IFBB North American Championships, winning first place with a bang. As the event where he received his Pro Card, this represented the pinnacle of his professional career.

Anthony was quite happy with what he had accomplished, which encouraged him to keep working hard to accomplish more.

Anthony, however, later decided that he wanted to pull aside from the competition.
