Biography of Ben Mudge

Having Cystic Fibrosis as a child

From Belfast, Northern Ireland, comes Ben Mudge. His lungs, pancreas, and other organs were all afflicted by the hereditary illness cystic fibrosis, which he was born with.

Ben was an active boy who enjoyed playing with friends and participating in sports as a child. He never let his cystic fibrosis stop him from doing the things he loved.

Ben’s lung capacity was decreased to 66 percent due to a chest illness he suffered when he was 18 years old, but then things started to go south. Before this, he was in fantastic health and had a lung capacity of more than 100%.

Ben remarked on the symptoms of the chest infection: “I’d never experienced any breathing problems at all before that. But after that, it felt as though someone was squeezing my lungs from the bottom up. I realized then that I needed to start working out.

Conquering the Odds

Ben’s lungs would never be able to fully recover, according to the doctors. Ben, however, was aware that he could disprove them if he changed his way of living.

He ultimately decided to start working out at a gym and eating healthier.

Ben acknowledges that initially, his development was gradual and that he occasionally felt frustrated. But he remained steady.

His lung capacity gradually began to increase. Ben claims that bodybuilding has restored his lung capacity to 95% and taught him how to breathe properly.

Along the way, he also developed an incredible physique, complete with cut abs and bulging biceps.

Motivating Others

Ben didn’t want to give up on improving his health, either. He was aware that others had problems comparable to his.

He decided to make his internet accounts public to share his story and perhaps inspire other people with cystic fibrosis to have healthier and fitter lives.

Ben launched his training business as he grew his social media following. Additionally, he started uploading images of himself looking like the superhero Thor.

Growing my hair out to seem more like Thor, as Ben put it, “is absolutely a significant part of what keeps me motivated and inspires me to keep practicing.”

Ben has also helped many cystic fibrosis-affected children feel more self-assured by inspiring them through these images.

“Having this effect on people all over the world, especially little cystic fibrosis children – all these tiny Thors – feels so unreal,” she said. Benji Mudge

Ben keeps sharing his message online and focuses on providing fitness instruction to people who have the same ailment as him.

Training

Five or six times every week, Ben Mudge works out in the gym. He works out for 50 to 60 minutes.

He concentrates on large compound movements that work his entire body. Ben also prefers full-body exercises versus the conventional “bro-splits” where he concentrates on certain muscle groups.

He believes that full-body workouts not only save him time but also produce more effective overall outcomes.

My infatuation with superheroes is one of the reasons I enjoy working out. By the way, I’m a complete nerd. When I work out in sprints, I wear a Zoom T-shirt. I always wear a T-shirt with the Thor logo while I do weights. I picture myself raising Thor’s hammer.7

Nutrition

Ben spends most of his time eating wholesome, whole meals. To manage his cystic fibrosis, he also pays close attention to the supplements he takes, which include digestive enzymes.

Ben will consume the same number of calories each day (2,500 kcal) on the days before a photo session. Instead of altering his diet to lose weight, he prefers to increase his cardio, which aids in his 200–300 kcal calorie deficit.

“My big focus is on enjoyment. Would you rather do exercise that you can keep up for 12 months and enjoy it and make a slow progression or would you rather do exercise that you really despise, that will get you there faster but you’re going to hate every minute of it?”

What Ben Mudge can teach us?

Ben Mudge teaches us that it’s possible to make the most of difficult circumstances in life.

Despite having cystic fibrosis from birth, Ben has succeeded in becoming the person he is today. If anything, it has encouraged him to make the most of every opportunity.

If Ben’s journey has taught you anything, it should be to always see the “glass as half full.” Try to discover something positive, even in the toughest circumstances, and use it to grow as a person.
