Early Life of Brandon Curry
In his younger years, Brandon Curry participated in football, track & field, and gymnastics. When he received a set of dumbbells for his birthday when he was six years old, he became interested in fitness.
From there, Brandon started to develop a career in fitness, eventually becoming a successful athlete and a certified personal trainer.

Biography
Fitness Start for Brandon
The state capital of Tennessee, Nashville, is where Brandon Curry was born and reared. His parents supported him in getting exercise by enrolling him in youth gymnastics lessons, then later in football, wrestling, and track & field.
At the young age of six, he developed an early interest in weight training. Every day after school, he would train with dumbbells at home, eventually developing a fascination with fitness.
By the time Brandon graduated from high school, he had started establishing a fitness profession. He enrolled in a collegiate exercise science program to increase his understanding of diet and weightlifting.
Building Muscle Full-time
Brandon started working in the fitness industry after receiving his degree, initially as a personal trainer and later as a bodybuilder.
He won his first contest in 2003, and after that, he entered several amateur competitions while consistently working on his physique.
Becoming a Pro
At the NPC USA Championships in 2008, Brandon outshone the opposition after adding over 30 pounds of muscle to his physique, taking first place.
Brandon became a professional bodybuilder as a result of winning the national competition. This allowed him to compete on the IFBB stage against the top athletes in the world.
Later Competitions
Brandon competed in 24 professional bodybuilding competitions over the subsequent nine years.
His eighth-place finish at the 2011 Mr. Olympia, a first-place finish at the 2013 IFBB Arnold Classic Brazil, a first-place finish at the 2015 IFBB Toronto Pro Supershow, and win at the 2017 Arnold Classic Australia were some of his most notable performances during this time.
“I love compound movements (bench press, deadlift, squat). Progressive overload is my aim, mostly in the aspect of intensity.”
Training
Strength and Hypertrophy Training Combined
Depending on how he feels, Brandon trains at the gym four to five times per week. On Mondays, he typically exercises his chest, back, and shoulders all at once, focusing on muscular growth by performing 10–12 repetitions and slow, deliberate motions.
He typically works out on Tuesdays to gain strength; to get the most out of his workout, he employs various strength techniques, lengthy breaks in between sets, and low repetitions.
After a day of recovery on Tuesday, Brandon works out once again on Thursday and Friday. His off days are typically on the weekends.
Adapting New Styles
Sometimes Brandon’s workout routine gets completely overhauled. A case in point would be working out only twice per week while performing full-body strength circuits, or exercising for hypertrophy every day of the week.
He thinks that switching up the types of exercises he does helps him grow the most muscle.

Brandon’s Training Techniques
- Double Contraction 1 1/2 Rep Techniques: 1 1/2 rep = 1 rep
For instance, when Brandon performs the bench press, he lowers himself first, then pushes the bar up. There is one rep in this.
Rest-Pause-Sets:
With a 10-second break in between each set, one major set made up of three smaller sets is performed in this training method. Brandon uses the same weight for the entire set.

Favorite Body Part
Brandon Curry enjoys working out his back and hamstrings the most. He particularly enjoys deadlifts, lying leg curls, pull-ups, and t-bar rows for strengthening these areas.
Using Wrist Wraps
Straps make Brandon uncomfortable, so he doesn’t want to wear them.
He advises, “I don’t believe you should use them unless your grip is gone and that is the only way you can overload the muscle you’re training. Even still, I don’t use them.”
Nutrition
Brandon consumes largely entire foods throughout his seven to eight daily meals. Oatmeal, eggs, vegetables, meats, fruits, rice, almonds, and sweet potatoes make up his regular daily diet.
Brandon occasionally consumes meals that are considered to be “cheat foods.” Gummy bears, fruit snacks, and chocolate bars are some of his favorites.

Influences and Idols
When Brandon first began training weights, he drew inspiration from “superheroes” in magazines and action films like Rocky Balboa, Rambo, and G.I. Joe.
They gave Brandon the motivation he needed to develop a fantastic physique and succeed as a bodybuilder.
“Purposefully awareness can lead to the lack of awareness of any distraction that could eventually lead you off the path or out of your zone.
Right around the time you are about to do something big or take advantage of an approaching opportunity, opposition always comes. It can come in any form and most likely the ones whom are closest to you.
Don’t fault them, for they didn’t willingly join the resistance, but are better looked at as signs, that big things are right around the corner. Be unmovable, to become unstoppable, and make your goals undeniable.”

Brandon Curry has proven to us that having a motivator by your side may help you accomplish your objectives. In his youth, Brandon idolized Sylvester Stallone and other action movie stars, wanting to develop a body comparable to theirs.
He achieved his goal of becoming a professional bodybuilder by working hard enough; he won the Arnold Classic and participated on the Mr. Olympia stage.
