BUTTERMILK This pie contains buttermilk, of course, but you may also make it without it. We combine milk (1 cup) with vinegar or lemon juice to create a buttermilk replacement (1 tablespoon).

You can also combine sour cream or plain yogurt with water or milk to achieve the consistency of buttermilk.

PIE CRUST Use a pre-made crust for convenience and speed, or if you have time, prepare this flaky homemade pie crust. In less than 10 minutes, the pie crust from the grocery store will be prepared for the oven.

FLAVOR Vanilla, lemon juice (fresh squeezed is ideal), and nutmeg are required ingredients in this recipe.

Making Buttermilk Pie

This recipe is really simple to prepare.

  1. Set the oven to 350°F.
  2. With unbaked pie crust, line a 9′′ pie pan.
  3. In a bowl, whisk eggs until frothy. until frothy, combine butter, sugar, and flour.
  4. Blend in the remaining ingredients until smooth.
  5. Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Pour onto prepared crust.
  6. Prior to serving, complete cooling.
