Everyone loves Frito Pie, which is fantastic for game day and dinner the whole family will enjoy!
This casserole(Frito Pie) starts with a hearty beefy base made of ground beef, beans, seasonings, and other ingredients (much like chili). It’s all covered in a thick layer of cheese and, you got it, FRITOS before baking.
Tomatoes, sour cream, and jalapenos are some of your favorite taco toppings.
Describe Frito Pie.
Frito pie is more of a taco casserole than a pie, similar to Dorito casserole.
- This simple recipe, also known as Frito taco pie, may be prepared at home with a few basic ingredients.
- It is possible to prepare it in advance and bake it right before serving.
- While the Fritos on top remain crisp and crunchy, the corn chips at the bottom of the casserole soften and resemble tortillas.
- Change up your regular taco night by setting out some toppings and allowing guests to assemble their bowls.
Make it a favorite at parties!
This can be a meal that you eat while strolling around!
On the stovetop, make the filling and simmer it (instead of baking). Scoop the warm filling into single-serving Fritos corn chip packets directly on top of the Fritos. Give it to hungry eaters so they may add their preferred toppings! Neither a mess nor a dish!
Ingredients for Frito Pie
FILLING: Taco seasoning is used to season ground beef (or ground chicken). It becomes flavorful and satisfying when beans, tomatoes, and corn are added. Although we used sliced tomatoes, salsa is a suitable alternative.
Include your preferred ingredients, such as diced bell peppers, cumin, and garlic. Stir a small amount of rice into the filling to stretch it even further.
FRITOS: The Fritos on top provide flavor and crunch, and the Fritos at the bottom of the baking dish soften a little bit and take on a texture that is almost tortilla-like.
CHEESE: We enjoy using a lot of cheese, whether it’s Tex-Mex or shredded cheddar.
