A traditional salad for the summer, Waldorf Salad includes celery, grapes, apples, walnuts, and raisins in a creamy dressing.

For the ideal dinner, serve this crunchy side salad with pulled pork sandwiches at a potluck or BBQ.

The Waldorf hotel’s executive chef invented the first Waldorf salad dish in New York in 1896. At a charity gala in support of St. Mary’s hospital, it was made for kids!

We enjoy bringing this meal to parties, but it also makes a deliciously light lunch any day of the year. It may be prepared ahead of time, is easy to transport, and matches almost any spread wonderfully.

This dish works well with any menu, whether you serve it by itself, over lettuce, or with oven-baked chicken breasts.

Waldorf makes a great side dish, but you can also use it to make a meal. All you need to complete the chicken Waldorf is either poached chicken or grilled chicken breasts.

This is one of our favorites, and I love serving it in the summers with some homemade dinner rolls.

It’s better to prepare the Waldorf in advance. As a result, the mayonnaise can absorb some of the sweetness from the apples and grapes, giving the salad a very sweet dressing. It is prepared before you are, which makes it ideal for potlucks.

Waldorf Salad: What Is It?

A traditional salad made with celery, grapes, apples, walnuts, raisins, and mayonnaise is presented here. It is typically presented atop a lettuce bed.

Waldorf is the ideal combination of crunch, flavor, and sweetness. Everything merely meshes.

Feel free to experiment with any additional ingredients you might have on hand. The cranberry Waldorf is one of our favorite recipes, but you can also add lemon juice, chiffonade carrots, different berries, pecans, or other nuts.

Making A Waldorf Salad

It’s as easy as 1.2.3 to make a Waldorf. This simple side dish is made by:

  1. Get the produce ready
  2. Mix the dressing’s components.
  3. Combine, let sit, and relish

Don’t forget to cover and refrigerate the salad for about an hour for optimal results.

Salad Dressing

The Waldorf dressing is essentially simply mayonnaise and a little bit of sugar; there isn’t much else to it. Some people season with salt, pepper, or a touch of lemon. Additionally, I’ve seen yogurt and honey included in the dressing.

I like to keep things basic and straightforward, but feel free to add your favorite ingredients to make it your own.

Anything grilled, in my opinion, pairs beautifully with this crisp, fresh salad. The sweetness simply goes well with slaw. We adore pairing it with pulled pork, grilled chicken, or hamburgers.
