Strictly participant James Martin had excess body weight. With the vigorous dancing training and routine, he lost 3 stone in 4 months. In order to maintain the slim figure, he decided to forego certain fattening foods in his diet. And it helped.
James Martin and his weight loss journey
Celebrity chef and Strictly star, James Martin was overweight. He has excess of fat in his body and had never thought much on it. But after he joined the show Strictly Come Dancing, he lost 3 stones. This was due to his rigorous dance rehearsals and routine. This participation made him shed a lot of his fat. He became trim and fit. He realized that he now needs to maintain this new weight and great look.
After James finished the show, he could have put on the lost weight with his routine diet and lifestyle. But he decided to overhaul his eating habits so that he is able to have the same new weight. He wanted to remain slender and healthy. For this, he decided to give up certain food favorites that are in the bad category. And he replaced those with nutrient dense foods.
James and his new diet
Though James is in the culinary industry and cooks delicious meals daily, he did not pay much attention to his own eating earlier on. But it dawned on him that he should. He decided to do so and change his food habits. James revealed:
“So I decided to examine my diet and I made a conscious decision to cook fresh food at home.”
“I no longer stuff my face with really bad things such as takeaway pizza, Mars bars and fizzy soft drinks, which I used to have tons of during my working day, just like almost every other chef in the country.”
He went healthy on his foods. Talking on it, James explained:
“I eat fish twice a week as well as loads of vegetables and fresh fruit.”
He feels that eating healthy is not hard and it is also relatively cheaper.
Healthy eating at low cost and easily
James said:
“You only have to walk around the supermarket to see stuff that you didn’t see 10 years ago.”
“It used to be that lemongrass was only for one type of person, now it’s available to everybody, and at affordable prices.”
Further, he added:
“Good food is simply cooked food – it’s not rocket science.”
“You don’t have to be a Gordon Ramsay to cook yourself a healthy meal.”
It is simple and cheap to cook a healthy meal. This helps in the growing inflation when foods have become dearer. James concluded:
“A good healthy diet is a combination of fruit, vegetables, meat and fish, and with exercise you’ll keep the weight off.”

The weight loss has helped get more confidence and his complexion has also shown an improvement, according to him.
