Biography

Early Years Motivation for Bodybuilding

Texas’s Grapevine is where Jason Poston was born. Growing up, he participated in a wide range of sports, including baseball, basketball, football, hockey, boxing, and wrestling.

At the age of 19, Jason began taking weightlifting seriously. A lightbulb went off in his head when he realized how weight training could enhance his friends’ ability in collegiate athletics after high school.

Jason found himself in a position where he had to begin to take weight training seriously because of his inner urge to compete and stay up with his college friends.

Additionally, a few local legends in the area of his hometown motivated him to work out more. Branch Warren and Johnnie Jackson among others rapidly inspired Jason to go above and beyond.

Jason then began reading a lot of bodybuilding publications as well as several Arnold training guides like The Encyclopedia of Bodybuilding.

Difficulty with The Law

Jason started his fitness and weight training adventure around the same time. To understand new training methods and how to get more muscle, he chatted with as many bodybuilders as he could.

According to Jasin, “I began asking every bodybuilder I met about how to grow muscle, and I exercised extremely hard. It succeeded! Even my ex-girlfriend began to notice the improvements as my surroundings did!

When Jason got into problems for the first time in his life in high school, he was forced to reevaluate the course his life was on.

At the age of 19, he discovered that his then-girlfriend was making him jealous by hanging out with another man at a party.

Unfortunately for Jason, he had been drinking that evening and was pulled over and arrested as he drove there to witness the events firsthand.

Jason missed his community service and wound up spending more than 40 days in the county jail since he was handling everything on his own and had never done anything similar before.

Without a doubt, this caused Jason to change, and that shift would last the rest of his life.

At the age of 19, I had to spend 40 days in the county jail. It was difficult in there, I won’t lie.

I gained a lot from the life-altering experience, and it also gave me the courage to face many of the issues I faced as an adult. It undoubtedly improved me and contributed significantly to who I am now.

Diabetes Type 1 Identified

When Jason received his type 1 diabetes diagnosis in 2001, he was getting ready for his first NPC competition. Throughout the weekend, he lost 15 pounds, and in a month, he shed a total of 30 pounds.

This was true despite consuming a lot of food and taking vitamins and weight gainers.

He changed everything and began eating well, but nothing was successful. His initial visit to the doctor resulted in him being given medication and being instructed to go home, which only made him feel worse.

However, a family friend knew a different doctor who gave his type 1 diabetes a reliable diagnosis. He went to the surgery to receive an insulin shot, and he started feeling better right away.

Competition Background

Jason competed in events like the IFBB and the NCP for a long and healthy career. He competed in his first show in 2011 at the NPC Oklahoma City Bikini Championships, finishing fifth overall.

The 2012 NPC Ronnie Coleman Classic was his next competition, where he won first place. In most of his events from 2011 to 2015, his competitive spirit led to him finishing in the top 3.

Since Jason has won first place multiple times throughout his career, it is obvious that he enjoys competing professionally and being on stage.

Coach, Personal Trainer, and Nutritionist

Jason works as a personal trainer, provides one-on-one coaching, and supports clients’ nutritional objectives.

He keeps working toward perfection and competes in renowned competitions like the IFBB Arnold Sports Festival and Europa Phoenix, where he placed first in 2014 and second in 2015, respectively.

It merely demonstrates Jason’s genuine enthusiasm for bodybuilding and all that it entails.

Training

6 Days Per Week

Jason usually works out in the evenings six days a week, dividing his body into several workout sessions, with the arms getting a dedicated day.

He will work out his legs twice a week, and as the show gets near, his chest will take the place of the legs.

He will perform the same workouts for 12 weeks in a row, switching between high-rep and low-rep training to mix things up.

At the beginning of his training cycle, Jason will use compound lifts to lift heavier weights, but as his training cycle comes to a close, he’ll switch to primarily isolation exercises to develop more detail in his muscles.

Jason enjoys capping off his aerobic sessions with 15 minutes of HIIT exercises like boxing, jump roping, hill sprints, or box jumps. Anything to maintain his explosiveness and athleticism at their peak.

Exercise While Diabetic

Jason’s tough training sessions have been a little more difficult because of his diabetes, but as he explains, “it has sharpened me.” Now, as Jason puts it, “I remain on top of my nutrition like a mathematician,” he maintains it like a pro.

For Jason, Fodo has evolved into a math problem and a game of weighing. He weighs each meal before, during, and after his workouts. preventing hypoglycemia.

Jason always consumes a protein shake with good carbohydrate sources during workouts to safely and gradually raise blood sugar levels, which is crucial for diabetics who train as hard as Jason.

Nutrition

A Paleo Diet

Jason enjoys eating grass-fed beef, turkey, salmon, and any other kind of exotic fish. He will have dishes like paleo pancakes made with almond or coconut flour for 95% of his meals.

Jason strongly supports a low-carbohydrate diet and gets the majority of his calories from foods high in protein, veggies, and good fats.

He also prefers to limit his daily carb intake to 150 grams. He will consider all of his macronutrients more so than his total calorie intake.

Jason will often consume five meals a day. 50g of protein, 10g of fiber, 15–25g of fat, and a lot of vegetables will be included in each meal.

He will have 50g of protein and 50g of carbs before working out. He always eats carbs before a workout, but never afterward.

According to my belief, it is preferable to use carbohydrates to increase performance and strength rather than to replenish energy as they are fuel for vigorous exercise.

For the other six or seven meals a day, I consume protein, vegetables, fiber, and healthy fats.

Getting His Diet Right

Jason Poston acknowledges that he was one of those people who could eat whatever he wanted. He would have the standard low-fat, high-protein diet.

He continued to take his supplements consistently. Jason didn’t learn much more about diet and how it affects the body until he started competing.

It’s reasonable to say that Jason has one of the best bodies in the business and has honed his diet to a fine pitch.

Influences and Idols

Jason has always been motivated by legendary bodybuilders like Frank Zane and Arnold. But he also gets inspiration from watching his development at the gym.

In the months leading up to a tournament, it also comes from competing against friends and in other events.
