Biography

From a Bored College Student to an All-Out Athlete Jay Coss, a.k.a. John Coss, was born and raised in Houston, Texas.

Jay had no other hobbies when he first became interested in fitness because of his college obligations. To pass the time, he chose to visit a gym that was close to his institution and could be reached on foot.

Jay had no idea that the gym would quickly turn into his second home. He developed an interest in learning more about the bodybuilding lifestyle after noticing how his physique improved.

He had prior athletic experience, so he quickly picked up all the details of training and dieting.

Jay entered competitions over the years, and his victory in the NPC competition earned him the title of IFBB Pro in 2017. Jay also achieved success as an online coach and business owner.

Training

Jay’s preferred kind of exercise is push-pull-legs. He prefers performing hard lifts, or “doing power bodybuilding,” as he puts it. This calls for intense, volumetric training with large weights. His strength and size significantly increase as a result.

Jay likes to do deadlifts the most. He enjoys challenging himself to see how much weight he can lift while maintaining proper form. The workout is “just the most exhilarating,” as Jay puts it.

Slow Cardio

Jay enjoys engaging in morning cardio while fasting. In other words, he exercises while fasting. He thinks that doing this encourages fat loss without reducing his muscle mass.

However, Jay steers clear of excessive fasting cardio when he wants to put on muscle because it can go against his objectives.

The biggest obstacle was my back injury in 2015 from doing the leg press. The worst aspect was attempting to start again; the fact that it took 6 months to heal. At that time, it was quite simple to lose motivation.

Nutrition

Jay Coss takes five to six meals each day, each of which has a healthy balance of protein, carbohydrates, and fats. His daily menu includes the following:

1st Meal: Egg whites and oatmeal

2nd Meal: Ground turkey and rice

3rd Meal: Ground turkey and rice

4th Meal: Ground turkey and rice

5th Meal: Egg whites

As you can see from the list above, Jay likes to eat straightforward meals. Not too many experiments or “fancy” components. In addition to saving him a ton of time, he doesn’t find it difficult to consume the same things every day while preparing for the competition.

Influences and Idols

Jay claims that his father is the person who most motivates him. His father has always supported him and served as his primary source of inspiration for achieving his life’s objectives.

Jay’s Purpose

Getting things done is what drives Jay the most. Every time he puts in the effort, he enjoys seeing the results eventually. Without taking action, Jay thinks nothing gets done. He believed that even on difficult days, there was work to be done.

The only pastime I have besides exercise is working on cars with my dad.
