Biography
Short Career Of Kenneth Owens
Kenneth Owens played American football as a child. To maintain his level of competition in his football matches, he also began lifting weights early in childhood. Kenneth did not begin to take his weightlifting quest seriously until late 2014.
After going through many stages in his life, including joining the military, Kenneth decided to go on a completely new career path: bodybuilding. He started his voyage in Pensacola, Florida, when he met Cedric McMillan for the first time.
Kenneth was “sold” on the bodybuilding lifestyle after meeting Cedric. The moment he saw him, the thought “I’m going to look like that” entered his head.
A Competitive Bodybuilder’s Journey
After a short while, Kenneth developed a love for weightlifting and the way it made his body look. He soon began receiving personal instruction and soon began enhancing his physique even more.
Kenneth eventually understood he had what it took to be a professional bodybuilder. He quickly took the plunge and entered his first bodybuilding contest. Kenneth discusses his early competitive experiences here.
“That’s a funny topic. In 2015, I participated in my first competition. An all-natural organization called INBF hosted my first competition.
I competed in the men’s physique but did not place. I was confident when I originally entered the competition and shortly became humbled when I failed to place at all.
At 170 pounds, I was informed I was too large for my physique. I considered avoiding competition altogether.
I then switched to NPC after realizing that the organization wasn’t interested in people with my body type. Shortly after I decided to compete in physique, the classic physique was revealed.
We dove in head first since my coach at the time, may he rest in peace, advised us to do so. In South Carolina, I took part in the Border Klash and won both my class and the overall competition. – Ken Owens
How To Get The Pro Card, Kenneth Owens
Kenneth entered the 2016 NPC Junior USA, Physique Class B shortly after winning the Border Klash in South Carolina. He outperformed everyone there, winning first place and his Pro Card in the process.
Kenneth was now eligible to face off against some of the greatest bodybuilders in the world in the prestigious IFBB league. He was eager to take on the assignment.
Kenneth’s Professional Life
Kenneth made his professional debut at the 2017 Wings of Strength Chicago Pro not long after turning pro. He finished tenth that day.
Disappointed with the outcome, Kenneth decided to take a break to work on his body and pose to return stronger.
The following months were devoted to strict training and food monitoring. He also perfected the art of posing.
Kenneth’s efforts were successful because he battled back to finish third at the 2017 New York Pro.
Continuous Struggle For Greatness
Kenneth participated in two professional bodybuilding competitions in 2018. He finished eighth in the Ohio Arnold Classic and fifth in the New York Pro, respectively.
Kenneth keeps getting better at both posing and maintaining his physique. It is obvious that he has no intention of stopping; his goal is to establish himself on the largest bodybuilding platforms in the world.
Training
Competition Training, By Kenneth Owens
Every day, Kenneth enjoys working out since it’s in his “blood,” he claims. However, his coach frequently tells him to take it easy to prevent accidents and “overtraining.”
Kenneth normally works out with cardio three days a week in the early stages of competition preparation. He will perform 20 minutes of cardio while fasting in the morning, followed by a second 15-minute session.
Kenneth will boost his cardio workouts as the performance draws nearer. He ultimately reaches a stage where he exercises for 80 minutes a day, four to seven days a week.
According to Kenneth, his goals “and few other things” determine the pace and duration of his exercise.
Kenneth, however, rarely exercises for longer than 40 minutes at a time. He thinks that performing too much cardio at once could cause him to enter a catabolic state and lose muscle mass.
Nutrition, (Workout)
Normally, Kenneth and his trainer prepare his diet together. Because he constantly has someone checking in on his plan and ensuring sure he achieves his macro needs each day, this saves him time and helps him avoid mistakes.
Kenneth eats seven little to medium-sized meals each day when he wants to put on muscle. His metabolism shifts into “high gear” as a result, enabling him to maintain his slim body while adding muscle.
Kenneth’s Shelf Of supplements
Kenneth consumes post-workout protein shakes to help him reach his daily protein goal during the “off-season.” But eight weeks before the competition, he stops drinking “all protein shakes.”
The same is true for his pre-workouts; he won’t utilize them too close to the concert date or during the “off-season.”
Kenneth also takes other vitamins;
- BCAAs
- Minerals and vitamins (on occasion)
- Fish oils with omega 3
- Glucosamine
- CLA
- Glutamine
Influences And Idols
Cedric McMillan, Shawn Rohden, and Dexter Jackson are three of Kenneth Owens’ main influences in bodybuilding.
He was initially motivated to start bodybuilding by Cedric’s lean and muscular figure. However, Kenneth claims that “Flex Wheeler’s from the English Grand Prix (1999)” is his all-time favorite physique.
