There is a growing interest these days in people towards adopting a nutritious, healthy, and sustainable diet pattern. Hence, an increasing number of people are consuming plant based foods. Director James Cameron is one of them. But due to the negativity associated with terms such as vegan or vegetarian, James prefers to use the term futurevore diet for it.
James Cameron and the word futurevore diet
The Canadian famous director James Cameron has attained great success. He has switched to plant based eating around a decade back and his happy with his decision. He wants to promote this healthy eating and lifestyle. But he has realized that people take the terms vegan and vegetarian in a negative way. But, in fact, this lifestyle is healthy for humans, animals, and environment.
Hence, he coined the term futurevore for it. Talking to GQ magazine, James said:
“I tried to come up with a good term for it because vegan has all those connotations,”
“‘How many vegans does it take to screw in a light bulb?’ ‘It doesn’t matter. I’m better than you.’ You just want to punch a vegan. ‘Punch a vegan today: It’ll feel good.’’’
“So the term I came up with is ‘futurevore,’”
“We’re eating the way people will eat in the future. We’re just doing it early.”
James’ recent film and veganism
The premiere of his new film installment Avatar, The Way of the Water –– is due soon. It discusses his creative abilities and personal eating habits and interests. He feels that with this new term, he will be able to persuade more people to adopt plant based eating with no negative tag attached to it. Talking about his switch to vegan lifestyle in 2012, James told GQ:
“I’m 10 years, 100 percent, not a molecule (that I know of) of animal entering my face,”
“And I’m healthier than I’ve ever been, and most of these punks can’t keep up with me. It’s not a biological mandate that we have to eat this stuff. It’s a choice, just like any luxury choice.”
Producer Jon Landau disclosed that during the filming for the film series, James ordered only plant based foods on the sets for the entire crew. Cameron along with his wife, Suzy Amis promotes plant-based and eco-friendly ventures. The two started MUSE in 2015 to assist K-12 cafeterias to switch to fully vegan menus. Also, in 2017, they launched Verdient Foods to help in pea protein manufacture.

Talking on it, James had said:
“We thought, ‘This is it: sports performance. Right? A lot of people care about sports performance — and between the lines, it’s sexual performance,’”
“So it’s vigor, it’s energy, it’s staying younger, but we made it about sports, and then just went out after all the vegan athletes and showed how they were doing better.”
