This guacamole dip is easy to make with only three ingredients and tastes precisely like the kind you’d get at a Mexican restaurant.

What Makes This Dip So Delectable?

  • The name refers to a basic, creamy avocado dip rather than chunky guacamole with a lot of ingredients. But you appreciate them in the same manner! Add a dollop to a burrito, shredded chicken tacos, or carne asada fries to take a dip.
  • Only three simple items are required! Yup. All you need are three ingredients to produce a fantastic restaurant-style dip with lots of fresh, bright flavor. You’ll need to serve it immediately away because it’s so fresh. This one isn’t excellent for leftovers or make-ahead dinners, but that’s good because…
  • It’s quite simple to create. Your dip will be ready to eat in about 5 minutes if you mash the avocado by hand, but you can speed things up by using a food processor!

Key Ingredients

Avocados – When picking avocados, there are two things to keep in mind. 1) Their feelings and 2) their appearance.

Avocados that are ready to eat should have a rough, dark green (nearly black) skin that gives somewhat when gently squeezed, but not so much that they indent or feel mushy.

Pick green, smooth avocados that still feel firm when you squeeze them if you’re buying them 3-4 days ahead of time. Allow them to ripen for a few days at room temperature.

Mexican Crema – Crema is not the same as sour cream in Mexico. Your guacamole dip will not taste as good if you add sour cream.

Crema is less acidic and thinner, with larger fat content. You should be able to find it in your neighborhood supermarket!

Chef’s Advice

  • If the crema is unavailable, crème fraîche can be used instead. If it’s too thick, add a splash of lime juice.
  • You can add some finely chopped jalapenos to your guacamole dip to give a little spice. To keep a smooth consistency, put them in the food processor with the avocado meat, or swirl them in when adding the lime juice and crema.
  • Add a little water in 1-tablespoon increments, stirring after each addition, for a thinner sauce to pour over tacos or nachos.
