Biography
Early Life Of Melvin Anthony
On November 13, 1973, in Sacramento, California, Melvin Anthony was born. Melvin experienced several difficulties as a child and in his early adolescence.
He mentioned how difficult it could be to survive at times because he lived in a neighborhood full of drug users and criminals.
Many of his neighbors, according to Melvin, would wind up in jail, but would later return from prison in amazing form after working out in jail, which attracted him and made him want to look the same.
Melvin believed that he would have to commit a crime and go to jail exactly like his neighbors to gain the same amount of muscle.
He stated, “We naturally believed that if we wanted to get huge, we’d have to go to prison because we were informed that all they do in there is lift weights.” Melvin Anthony
However, Melvin started working out at home, primarily using bodyweight exercises, so that didn’t end up being the route he took.
Melvin had no idea what he was doing at first, but he ultimately picked up the fundamentals from some of his pals who had training expertise.
Short Career Of Melvin Anthony
Melvin had been doing body-weight exercises for a while by the time he was 14, but he wasn’t entirely satisfied with his results.
He eventually encountered a man named “Strong,” who, in his account, was stronger than any of his neighbors and, as Melvin put it, “had never been in jail.” Melvin was intrigued and wished he could ask Strong how he developed such a powerful physique.
Strong advised Melvin that if he wanted to build a terrific body, he needed to work out in the gym and eat right. Melvin took his advice to heart and began working out while also adhering to a rigorous diet.
The child soon became enamored with the new way of life after beginning to see improvements. Melvin continued to exercise weights throughout high school, becoming better every year.
College
Melvin was able to develop an excellent physique by the time he was 18 and was given a football scholarship at San Bernardino Valley College as a result.
He had a lot of weightlifting expertise, but he knew nothing about football. He chose to give it a shot anyhow because he was still intrigued by it.
Melvin’s football career was short-lived since he recognized too late that the game wasn’t his main love and that he didn’t enjoy the physicality of it. As he once observed, “I didn’t like to take the hammering.”
But Melvin claimed he was ruthless when it came to lifting weights, so he returned to weightlifting and began working out more systematically than before.
Beginning Of His Career
Melvin suffered a knee injury during one of his final collegiate football games, which gave him another reason to give up the sport. Melvin quickly regained his lost muscle mass by continuing with his regular weightlifting routine after he had recovered.
By the time Melvin finished college, he had already developed an amazing body that made him a stage-worthy competitor.
As he continued to train and compete in other amateur competitions after competing in his first local show, he soon recognized that bodybuilding was his passion and that he wanted to pursue it as a full-time career.
Melvin claims that at that point, he began working even harder than before to win a significant title and ultimately obtain his Pro card. His first notable accomplishment was finishing third in the 1993 Musclemania Show.
Card Pro
Melvin continued to compete in smaller and regional competitions after winning Musclemania, taking a five-year vacation from the main stage. He was planning to offer his best performance at the time, hoping to get his Pro card.
He returned to the stage in 1998, competing in the Super-Heavyweight division in the 1998 NPC USA Championships, where he finished in second place but was unable to take home the victory and a pro card.
But a year later, Melvin participated in the same show, winning first place in both his division and overall, earning himself a professional card.
Future Contests
After receiving his Pro license, Melvin continued to produce strong results over the ensuing years, finishing second at the 2001 Ironman Pro Invitational and third at the 2001 San Francisco Pro.
But Melvin didn’t experience the joy of success again until 2004 when he won the Night of Champions tournament and took home first place.
Melvin competed in 14 more shows between 2004 and 2008 before declaring his retirement from the bodybuilding industry.
Some of his most notable accomplishments during that time included placing second in the 2008 Australian Pro Grand Prix, second at the 2008 Atlantic City Pro, and, just before his retirement, sixth at the 2008 Mr. Olympia.
An expert poser
One of the top posers in contemporary bodybuilding, Melvin is renowned for his incredible flexibility, bulk, and symmetry.
Every time he was on stage, he would frequently put on a show, outperforming the bigger competition with his fashionable appearance and posing technique.
Along with being successful on stage, Melvin appeared in several well-known films and posed on the covers of various reputable fitness and bodybuilding publications.

Melvin Anthony has tried every repeat range there is. He now believes that the most effective technique to gain muscle when working the upper body is to aim for 8–12 repetitions.
He asserts that performing 3-6 reps significantly increases strength without increasing bulk. However, doing more than 12 repetitions often won’t result in as much growth as a typical 8–12 repetition range.
According to Melvin, the best technique to exercise is to utilize weights that are neither too light nor too heavy so that the tendons and joints are working harder than the muscles.
Melvin responded, “I only know what works for me and pretty much everyone else I have ever known when asked about high-repetition philosophy.

Nutrition, (Fitness)
Melvin’s diet is based primarily on proteins. Melvin claims that he eats six to eight times a day, depending on whether he is competing.
His approach to dieting has evolved.
When he first began, Melvin declared that he would center his diet on fats and proteins, but as time went on, he began to include more carbohydrates in his diet and later acknowledged that this was something he should have done from the beginning.
Melvin believed that eating carbohydrates would bulk up his appearance and make his muscles appear fuller and healthier.
