In this app, the foods are coded into three colors: red, yellow and green. But there are no food restrictions at all. There is no fasting either. Users can have a 4 month subscription for USD 159 or USD 40 per month. There is a 14 day trial period for new users. Moreover, subscribers get live 1-to-1 assistance and guidance from coaches during business hours. The app has tools to measure blood sugar and blood pressure. It encourages users to use it so they are able to know how their nutrition choices affects these two parameters of health.

The various foods are graded into three colors: Red, Yellow and Green.

In the red group are foods such as red meat, processed meats such as salami, bacon and ham. This group also has sugar including fruit juices, oils such as olive oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, condiments such as mayonnaise, ranch, and calorie dense foods like pizza, fries, hamburgers, and chocolate.

In the yellow group come lean protein (tuna, salmon, turkey breast, chicken that is grilled), good dairy like low-fat milk, yoghurt, low fat cheese and eggs, healthy fats from olives and avocados, and whole grains and legumes such as kidney beans, black beans, chick peas, etc.

In the green category are vegetables, edible dark green leaves, all types of fruits, good dairy like low fat cheese and Greek yoghurt, and whole grains like oatmeal and brown rice.

The diet recommends that users should consume 45% of the food from yellow group, 30% from green group and 25% from red group.

Controversies and contraindications

Noom weight diet has got a mixed reaction. Antagonists state that it leads to a fractured relationship with food items. Also, all red category foods are not bad. And all green category foods are not healthy if taken in large amounts. But people might interpret things that way and feel that all green foods are healthy.
