Biography (Early Life)

Early Years

Born and bred in Chicago, Illinois, Shanique Grant is an IFBB professional bodybuilder and online coach. Her passion for fitness started early because she ran track throughout her high school career.

However, high school would mark the beginning of a trying time in her life. She was bullied, which had a significant negative impact on her self-confidence. She felt alone, and soon the bad things started to affect her.

Shanique believed that she needed to find a solution to deal with the bullying. She abandoned her well-being in favor of a life of nonstop partying as a result.

When she eventually reached her lowest point, she quickly saw that her life needed to change.

Shanique’s excessive drinking nearly caused kidney failure, which is how she ended up in the ICU.

She quickly realized that now or never was the only option. She had to make a total life shift because otherwise, the outcomes would have been terrible.

Shanique came to fitness as a means of changing herself after realizing that she wanted to reexamine her life. This would provide her with an opportunity for a new beginning and the potential to transform her entire life.

Fitness quickly grew to be a major aspect of her life, and she started directing all of her efforts to the gym. She started her fitness adventure to put her worst days in the past, and she quickly made great progress.

Initial Competition Performances

When asked if she had ever competed before, Shanique swiftly developed a body that made others curious. However, she replied that the idea had never really occurred to her.

Because of her traumatic past, she was hesitant to attempt new things and come out of her shell before she discovered fitness. She had lost her self-confidence as a result of bullying, and this had a severe effect on her life for many years.

However, Shanique’s attitude radically altered as a result of fitness, and she decided to try. She conducted some research on how to enter competitions and entered her first bodybuilding contest at the 2014 East Coast Championships, where she won.

At this moment, Shanique realized she was capable of accomplishing much more, so she made obtaining her pro card her new objective. Four months later, at the NPC National Championships, she succeeded in doing so, placing second.

Recent Appearances In Competitions

To advance her fitness goals, Shanique remained committed and continued to compete, placing second in the 2015 IFBB Atlantic City Europa and sixth at the IFBB Tampa Pro.

In May 2016, Shanique competed at the Pittsburgh Pro and finished in sixth place. Shortly after, she dominated the New York Pro competition and took first place.

She started preparing for the Olympia competition in 2016, but she was forced to withdraw as she recovered from a three-woman attack that was violent in August of that year.

At the New York Pro in May 2017, she recovered from the attack and repeated her first-place performance from the previous year.

After this victory, she was able to start her preparations for the Olympia competition in 2017, but she once again had to withdraw due to a detached retina.

Although winning this tournament remains her ultimate objective, she still has the rest of her career to work toward making that ambition a reality.
