Victoria Zito, one of Bravo TV’s Real Girlfriends in Paris stars, became an overnight success after the show premiered on September 5, 2022. She is one of six American women who live in Paris and explore life there.
While the show’s premiere may have contributed to her rapid success, it was her vulnerability and candor on the show that grabbed people’s hearts. The highlight for the show’s viewers was Victoria Zito accepting her sexuality in public for the first time in her life.
And it gets much more unique when learning about her background and how she reached her current state of openness.
Victoria Zito Declared Her Bisexuality
Before the show, Zito was just another woman to everyone who saw her. The 26-year-old fashion designer was born and reared in a traditional Texas family.
However, once the cameras began rolling for the show’s filming in 2021, she felt at ease coming out of the closet. Only her close companion Margaux Lignel was aware of her actual sexuality.
Everyone else cheered her coming out when she finally made her reveal, which she did by admitting/announcing she was attempting to get with a girlfriend. This caught the reality TV star off guard.
She was born and reared in Sunnyvale, Texas, in a conservative home, and had minimal exposure to discussions regarding sexuality and similar themes. During an interview with Page Six, she claimed that her family used to make fun of LGBT people.
Zito was not used to seeing festivities for such things, which surprised her for a while. She was bracing herself for questions and insinuations about whether she was SURE she was bisexual.
Instead, she received overwhelming support from everyone, including Lignel, who had been there for her since before the disclosure.
Victoria Zito’s Ex-Husband and Post-Divorce Life
Zito’s parents constantly pushed her to remain with what she was comfortable with. To put it another way, she was counseled to maintain the “status quo.”
And she did for a while. Zito married her now ex-husband at an early age and attempted to live a regular life.
Paris is perhaps more important to her than the other cast members because that is where she was before the show. She relocated to Paris with her ex-husband in 2017 to pursue a fashion design scholarship at the Parsons Paris art school.
Her marriage life took a turn for the worst while she was there when she discovered her hubby was cheating on her. So she filed for divorce, and that’s when she discovered true independence.
“I genuinely decided after getting divorced that I’m done doing things for other people and living to seek other people’s approvals,” she told Page Six. “Everything I’m doing today is solely for myself, and I’m quite happy about it.”
Divorce at such a young age provided her with a few challenges. She was supposed to keep her separation from the public eye, but she broke that unstated rule. Zito was unafraid of her history.
Divorcing her ex-husband also provided her with the opportunity to seek much-needed acceptance from the LGBTQ+ community.
Her family members were unaware of her bisexuality when the episode began taping. As a result, she stated that coming out was a huge “relief.”
“I don’t have an option but to accept it now. It’s quite lovely not to have that option “She stated. “It’s a comfort because I know I might have a stronger support system than I would have had if I hadn’t done the show.”
Her mother discovered out just before the show’s September 5 launch.
For the time being, she is looking forward to seeing how the next chapter of her life unfolds. She’s also curious to see how her romance with Emmelle, her female interest whom she met on a dating app, develops.
She does not, however, only date women. Throughout the first season, viewers will see Zito navigate the dating waters with both men and women.
