Along with numerous awards and praise for the film, he also won the heart of and married his true love. Suzy Amis, his fifth wife, is the one he is now married to. He has been married five times overall.

The rumor that Cameron was having an affair with Amis was one of the primary causes. Amis reportedly worked as a model before transitioning to acting in the 1980s.

She portrayed Lizzy Calvert, a descendant of the main character Rose Dawson Calvert. Although they did not date, Amis and Cameron were attracted to one another while the movie was being made.

The director had a brief relationship with Hurd before he met Kathryn Bigelow. After getting married in 1989, the couple divorced in 1991.
He then began dating Linda Hamilton, who played Sarah Connor in The Terminator. Out of all his marriages, his one with Hamilton was the messiest.
For the first time, Cameron experienced a long-term relationship before becoming engaged. In 1993, he had a daughter with Hamilton, and five years later, the two got married.
